Eastern District joins with Atlantic Coast Conference for Spring Assembly
A joint conference spring assembly was held Saturday, April 18, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
at Hope Community Church, 31 Lobachsville Rd., Fleetwood. Jeff Wright, church development coach for Eastern District Conference representing
the Center for Anabaptist Leadership in Pasadena, Cal. presented the morning keynote message and hosted one of the eleven afternoon
leadership and resource breakout sessions. Slides from Jeff Wright's morning presentation,
as well as resources related to some of the workshops have been posted on
the EDC/ACC Assembly web page.
EDC News Editor Appointed
Eastern District Conference Administrative Board is pleased to announce Karen Del'Marmol, congregational services coordinator at Grace Mennonite Church, Lansdale, has been appointed to serve as the EDC News Editor starting March 1, 2009.
Karen has previous experience functioning in variety of office settings, working with several software programs with ability to produce attractive well-defined newsletters. EDC is also in process of redeveloping a conference website which Karen will manage content after the website is up and running.
Each EDC congregation is asked to submit copy of your weekly church bulletins and newsletters on a regular basis, either by email or land mail. Items mailed to Karen can be sent to EDC Newsletter, Karen Del'Marmol, Grace Mennonite Church, 630 York Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446, e-mail: editor@easterndistrict.org. If you wish to phone Karen with questions or items for the newsletter, she can be reached at 215-407-9701.
Corinthian Plan: Mutual Aid Health Care for All Church Workers
The Corinthian Plan is a new health cost sharing program for pastors and employees of Mennonite Church USA congregation and churchwide agencies. It will provide health coverage through the Congregational Employee Plan as well as additional benefits like long-term disability coverage, life coverage and other optional benefits such as vision and dental coverage.

Eastern District Leadership Development Fund
Eastern District has received a financial gift that has been made into a leadership development fund. The new leadership development fund of EDC provides matching funds with congregations and conference-related ministries subsidizing educational opportunities forpastors in active assignment, persons aspiring to pastoral ministry seeking additional training for their service, and staff of conference-related ministries aiming to improve their skills and leadership abilities in order to more effectively carry out their ministries. Also, the Area Conference Leadership Fund (a Clayton Kratz Memorial) is a scholarship fund that gives grants to persons entering seminary level education for future church ministry leadership. For more information view this PDF.
